Our 11th Annual LDV Vision Summit was our most attended event to date, bringing together deep tech entrepreneurs, technologists, academics, researchers and investors for engaging discussions on cutting-edge visual tech and AI innovations. We were thrilled to welcome speakers from Sequoia Capital, NVIDIA, IBM, Kleiner Perkins, Phare Bio, IVP, Mitra Chem, BAM Corner Point, Duke University, Fortune, Argonne National Laboratory, Princeton University, The Pioneer Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Fieldstone Bio. Three of our LDV Capital portfolio companies also presented: Synthesia, DANNCE AI and ResiQuant.

We are pleased to announce that we have raised our fourth LDV Capital fund with $31M. We will continue investing in the same unique thesis that has not changed since founding LDV Capital in 2012. The majority of data our brains analyze is visual so the majority of data that AI will analyze will be visual as well. Visual data and visual technologies are critical for the success of artificial intelligence horizontally across all sectors.

Meet Dr. Mackenzie Mathis – a new guest in our monthly Women Leading Visual Tech series. She is a neuroscientist, a tenure-track professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, working within the Brain Mind Institute and Center for Neuroprosthetics. Dr. Mathis founded the Adaptive Motor Control Lab to investigate the neural basis of adaptive motor behaviors in mice to inform future translational research in neurological diseases.

In 2019, we had the pleasure of hosting a fireside chat between Thomas Reardon, a computational neuroscientist, co-founder and CEO of CTRL-labs, and Evan Nisselson, Founder and General Partner at LDV Capital.

Four months later in September 2019, CTRL-Labs was acquired by Facebook for approximately $1 billion, reported VentureBeat. He and his team are now integrated into Facebook's AR/VR research group.
